Community of the Beatitudes

The Beatitudes ecclesial family is made up of priests and brothers, consecrated sisters and lay members. All the members of the Community share a common vocation of prayer, service and hospitality. Our Spirituality is both Eucharistic and Marian, inspired by the Carmelite tradition of contemplative prayer and living out the spirit of the Beatitudes.

Contemplative prayer, a pure dialogue of love, has an essential place in our life, for it is the royal pathway by which we are led to the knowledge of Him who is Himself all Love: "The one who does not love, does not know God, for God is love" (1 Jn. 4, 8) (Book of Life, 22c).

“Contemplative prayer is nothing more than a close sharing between friends, it means taking time frequently to be alone with Him who we know loves us.” -St. Teresa of Avila

Studio of St Philomena

The Studio of Saint Philomena specialises in the restoration and creation of Sacred Art. The Studio statues are well known for their life-like beauty and unsurpassed artistic excellence. Many churches today have statues from The Studio in order to enhance the devotional prayer life of their faithful.

From its very beginning the Catholic Church has used art to instruct men and women about the Faith and to inspire them to draw closer to God by contemplating His mysteries.

The early Church Fathers described the purpose of religious images as anagogic, literally meaning “leading one upward.”

John Paul II Centre for Life

We are a Christchurch-based Catholic organisation dedicated to promoting a culture of life, marriage and family.

“Founded on love and open to the gift of life, the family contains in itself the very future of society; its most special task is to contribute effectively to a future of peace.” – John Paul II

"To all the members of the Church, the people of life and for life, I make this most urgent appeal, that together we may offer this world of ours new signs of hope, and work to ensure that justice and solidarity will increase and that a new culture of human life will be affirmed, for the building of an authentic civilization of truth and love." -John Paul II-
