Kia ora! Magandang araw sa lahat!
I’m Rev. Fr. REX RIVERO RAMOS, from the Philippines and I come from the Archdiocese of Caceres where Fr Benito also comes from. I was born on June 28, 1980 and was ordained as priest on May 18, 2007. I’m now on my 16th year as a man called by God to serve Christ and the Church through the reception of the sacrament of Holy Orders.
I was assigned as assistant priest in different parishes after I was ordained from 2007 to 2013. From 2013 to 2018, I served as Missionary Priest at the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, in the Diocese of Kingstown in the Caribbean Island. My five years of evangelisation and missionary life in the Caribbean Islands gave me many joys and challenges which molded me and prepared me to be open for other future missionary endeavors with God’s grace.
After completing my mission work in the Caribbean, I went back to my diocese in the Philippines where I was installed as a parish priest at the St. Vincent Ferrer parish from 2028 to July 2023. These years were my most memorable mission years as Parish Priest. It was indeed a fruitful five years of my priestly vocation because of all the experiences and struggles that I have endured and surpassed.
And now, here I am in New Zealand, a far cry from my last mission country. Yes, I’m fired up and absolutely pleased to be here to serve this parish of St Peter Chanel in Waimakariri.
I look forward to meeting you all and getting to know more about this parish. I’ve heard it is a vibrant and growing parish and this surely is a strong motivation for me to serve.
TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!
